Catherine Wills

Art Historian,

Catherine Wills is the daughter of the late Sir David Wills, a generous benefactor of the post-war era and founder of the Ditchley Foundation. Dr. Wills is a freelance art historian who studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art, where she completed her Ph.D. on the life and work of Sir Francis Grant. She was a Waynflete Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, England. She was instrumental in setting up the annual Martin Wills Memorial Trust writing award, in memory of her brother Martin, a former amateur rider and journalist who died in 1992. She oversees her family's philanthropic endeavors and serves as trustee of The Ditchley Foundation, The Dulverton Trust and the HDH Wills Charitable Trust. Dr. Wills served for many years as trustee of the 21st Century Trust, and played a supportive role in the merging of the young leaders and alumni programs of the Trust with those of Salzburg Global Seminar. Dr. Wills has homes in London, Oxford, and Scotland. She is also an avid horse breeder and took over the racing interests of her father on his death in 1999.
